Sick and twisted
I can’t sleep so I’m up feeding my sick and twisted obsession with home interior by surfing the net. Which does remind me of a story. On Friday my boss, myself, and two of my coworkers went out to lunch. I asked everyone we were with, “Name the one personality trait you love most about your partner.” I thought to myself that I love the fact that Eric is never boring. Then I thought perhaps that wasn’t exactly a trait, so I said, “I love that Eric is always entertaining.” To which my boss made a sound that was kind of a cross between a chuckle and a guffaw. I said, “What?” To which he said, “Laurie, that isn’t saying much. All you’d need is a room, some paint, and the internet and you’d be entertained for the rest of your life.” Then he pretended he was me and said, “I wonder what type of finish this is on my wall, I’ll have to go online and find out.”
The real reason of my post…when I was a kid we lived in Spain until I was 4. I have only a few memories, one of which is flamenco dancers. Also, my dad hung a piece of art in the house (although my mom questions if it was art) that showed a bullfighter in the ring. Which brings me to this great piece of reproduction fabric. I’m thinking I really need to get my mom to make a pillow for me out of this fabric:

The only thing holding me back is the fabric is rather loud and tacky, but at the same time that’s what I like about it. Conundrum.

I vote yes on the fabric for the pillow–think of it as eclectic rather than tacky.

Your Aunt Mary is clearly very smart, as she said exactly what I was going to say! Plus it’s INTERESTING (you know, *not boring* - like Eric!) and something like that really personalizes your space, rather than it looking like some sterile design out of a magazine. Sure, a lot of those rooms look fabulous, they just often look like nobody lives in them!

I think you’re both very smart! And I agree. I think I’m going to have a smaller pillow made. My favorite pillows (and I do have an oddly large amoount) are the ones that are short and wide. The one I’m looking at right now is probably 8″x20″. Mom - if you read this I’m going to be asking you for a favor soon.

I vote yes, with red satin on the back, and that fring with the little fuzzy balls.

I vote yes. I loved Spain and the wall art was great.

I just ordered the fabric and sent it to my mother. I also ordered the Cabana stripe as a possible backside to the pillow. I asked her to make two, one with the bullfighter in the center and the other with the flamenco dancer in the center. Interestingly the colors on the fabric seam to go with my living room color scheme quite well!
David, I think I’m going to have to pass on the fringe…with 4 animals we have to keep all things simple. Iif it’s too fun it will quickly become a toy for our dog Dagger!
