Weekend and other things
This weekend I finished painting the baseboard in the kitchen. Another project done! I am maintaining my goal of wrapping one thing up in the kitchen every week. And because I’m celebrating every accomplishment, no matter how small, here are some photos:
before
after (the color is correct on this second photo…not sure why the first is so bright)
And a picture of me enjoying our kitchen.
Eric did not finish his project because he went rock climbing–AND while he was climbing his friend’s car engine caught on fire! Looks like a little critter tried to build a nest in the warm engine of the VW van.

Look at you in yr little sweater! I love it!
Oh, and have I mentioned I love the floors? Is that Marmoleum tile?

Yes! Marmoleum click planks. Wonderful. We went with planks because they were slightly less expensive…when we just had the floor and nothing else I did have a littl freak out thinking they were too bold in the yellow color. For some reason when it was just two planks together the yellow seemed more subdued, but when it was the entire floor the yellow was quite striking, and that’s when I made the final selection on the modwalls blend (the stripe in the subway tiles). I made the choice because I thought I needed to bring the yellow up for the eye for the floor to make “sense” in all its dark yellowness. Now I love it. It all worked out for the best. Something about the kitchen reminds me of new orleans, which I like. Maybe it’s the colors? I dunno. I really like the colors in the french quarter…
