Shameless Self Promotion

Hey guys, I just put 4 things on ebay that might interest other housebloggers. My user name is oregonlaurie72 on ebay. I put up two retro Pottery Barn telephones (we’ve switched to cell) and 2 pairs of Ikea curtains which are cream and red striped (never opened and Ikea curtains are amazing!) and 1 set off modern Ikea Panels (curtains) that would fit a window up to 55″ wide and up to 118″ high.

New Domain

Hi all, Just wanted to let you know that I haven’t been posting as routinely because I’m working on the domain switchover. I probably won’t post again for a couple of weeks, because next week I’ll be in Chicago at a conference. Maybe Eric will finish the house while I’m away! Ha! But, my goal is to wrap-up the change soon. It’s much more annoying and time consuming than I’d initially dreaded.

Crazy Man

I’m sitting in bed, working on an assignment with my computer notebook cradled in my lap. Outside rain splashes against the skylight and a 1,000 small droplets slap repetatively against the window. I can hear the hard thud of metal hitting dirt, as Eric sends the pick ax into the ground, 10 or 20 times in a row. smack-smack-smack-smack. He’s been working on the yard since 8 a.m. and it’s 6 in the evening. I go over to the window and stick my fingers between two slats in the aluminum blinds. I peer out through the screen and say, “I think you need to be institutionalized. You know it’s raining out. You can come inside now!” He nods his head and props the ax upside down leaning with one hand, “No, I want to finish this tonight. Besides, the rain feels good.” His face splits into a silly grin as I shake my head in disbelief, remove my fingers from the blinds, and return back to bed.

Eric is freaking out

Don’t tell Eric I said this, but I think he’s going to have a psychotic break - over weeds! Because we were in Nebraska last week we had to leave the yard in-process, which meant it stood all week in a sort of “chaotic state” (the neighbors however, might say that our yard is trashy). Never leave your yard half-ripped-up. The weeds had babies while we were away, and they had babies, and they had babies. I had no idea so many weeds could start and mature in one short week. Our yard is now the trashiest looking place in the neighborhood. All we’d need to do is throw a few tires in the middle to really create that backwoods feeling. I think Eric is taking the day off tomorrow ‘cause he is beside himself with frustration about the yard. Today he said, “I wish I had a bobcat and a huge dumpster, I’d rip everything out and start all over.”
